Biwa Tulum Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Biwa Tulum, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical beachside hotel. The four-star property sits right in Tulum City Centre, and honestly, the location couldn’t be better — I mean, couples consistently rate it 8.7 out of 10, which tells you something. The design feels refreshingly understated, with clean lines and natural materials that complement Tulum’s laid-back vibe without trying too hard to be Instagram-perfect.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about staying in the city center — you’re actually close to real life, not just tourist spots. The hotel sits on Avenida Satelite Norte, which means you can walk to local taquerias, small markets, and that authentic Tulum energy that gets lost closer to the beach zone. Plus, there’s free private parking right at the hotel, which is honestly a godsend if you’re planning to explore cenotes or Mayan ruins. You know what’s smart? The recent guest rating of 8.6 for location isn’t just about convenience — it’s about being positioned where locals and travelers naturally intersect.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in felt thoughtfully designed rather than just decorated. Natural light floods in through well-placed windows, and the space manages to feel both modern and connected to the surrounding jungle atmosphere. Air conditioning works perfectly — crucial during Tulum’s humid months — and the beds are genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-marketing comfortable. What struck me was how quiet everything felt despite being in the city center, which speaks to solid construction and smart positioning.

Breakfast & Daily Rhythms

The breakfast-to-go concept actually works brilliantly here. Instead of being tied to a dining restaurant schedule, you can grab your morning meal and head out early to beat the crowds at popular cenotes or archaeological sites. I found myself appreciating this flexibility more than I expected — there’s something nice about starting your day on your own terms rather than rushing to make breakfast hours. The quality is solid, and honestly, eating outside while planning your day feels more authentic to the Tulum experience anyway.

Why Guests Love It

That 8.8 overall rating reflects something real — this place gets the balance right between comfort and character. You’re not paying beach resort prices, but you’re getting thoughtful service and a genuine sense of place. The staff understands that most guests want to explore during the day and return to something peaceful in the evening. It’s particularly well-suited for couples who want to experience Tulum beyond just the beach clubs and cenote tours, though you’ll find solo travelers and friends groups here too. The combination of central location, reliable amenities, and that elusive “feels right” atmosphere makes it the kind of place you’d actually recommend to people you care about.

Locals suggest to book apartments in Tulum around La Veleta for craft bakeries, yoga shalas, and low-key cocktail dens.

Very good layout of the room. You even have a cord to dry off your swimming clothes. Microwave and mini fridge included. Good location

  • Chris from United States (9/10)

The communication with the staff was excellent. I was in town to pick up family whose flights got screwed up due to a global computer problem. I had to stay an extra day and they were very accommodating.
The internet was good and the bonus was a small kitchen in the room including a fridge to keep water and soda cold.

  • Andrew from New Zealand (9/10)

Very spacious suite with loads of natural light & spotlessly clean. Loved the location. Lovely pool & rooftop area. It is on a busy road so can be a bit noisy tho that would not stop us staying again. Renting bikes direct from the hotel was very convenient.

  • Vladimir from Canada (9/10)

Pretty nice pool and the rooftop patio!

  • Eleni from Greece (9/10)

Close to the main strip in old tulum

  • Maria from Canada (9/10)

The hotel is in a great location and has a large room, a terrace on the roof, a gym and a pool. It is very close to walk to the Main Street in Tulum or for groceries. We enjoyed our stay.
