Walking into Hotel Tiki Tiki Tulum, you immediately feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special — and honestly, a bit unexpected for a four-star property. The whole place has this laid-back jungle vibe that somehow manages to feel polished without being stuffy. I mean, the name pretty much tells you what you’re getting into, but the execution is way more sophisticated than you’d expect. There’s this perfect balance between bohemian Tulum energy and actual comfort that’s harder to pull off than it looks.

Location & Getting Around

The hotel sits right on Calle 6 Sur Bis, which puts you in this sweet spot between the main drag and the quieter residential streets. You’re actually close enough to walk to most of the good stuff — the cenotes, beach clubs, and those Instagram-worthy restaurants everyone talks about. What I really appreciated was the free parking situation, because let’s be real, driving around Tulum can be a bit of an adventure and you don’t want to stress about where to leave your car. The location gets high marks from couples for good reason — it’s romantic without being isolated from everything fun.

The Room Experience

My room had this wonderful open-air feeling with natural materials everywhere — think polished concrete, local wood, and these gorgeous textiles that felt authentically Mexican rather than resort-fake. The bathroom was particularly impressive, with this rainfall shower that made you feel like you were bathing in the jungle (in the best possible way). Air conditioning worked perfectly, which honestly can be hit or miss in this part of Mexico, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for a place that leans so heavily into the rustic aesthetic.

Breakfast & Dining

The continental breakfast here is actually worth getting up for — and I’m usually a coffee-and-go person. They do this fresh fruit situation that showcases local varieties you probably haven’t tried before, plus really good coffee that doesn’t taste like it came from a giant urn. The restaurant area has this open-air setup where you can watch the town wake up while you eat, which sounds cheesy but genuinely adds to the whole experience. You know what surprised me? The service felt personal rather than scripted, like the staff actually cared about making your morning pleasant.

This place nails that tricky balance between authentic Tulum vibes and actual comfort — something a lot of hotels in the area struggle with.   The ambiance and the comfort of the rooms! Also the bar area is really nice and the staff are very friendly and personable. All their suggestions for places to visit, beaches and restaurants and bars were on point! The location is in a quieter area of Tulum and the pool is really big compared to other places and beachfront hotels.

  Hotel Tiki Tiki was our favourite hotel so far, rooms so clean and well appointed, lovely windows with natural light and great air con, modern bathrooms. Loved the aesthetic mid century decor in the main bar and pool area, we were one of a few staying there as it’s quiet season so we basically had the place to ourselves which was amazing, staff were very friendly and helpful with tour bookings, pool was nice and cool and the whole place was very relaxing. Great area really close to cool restaurants and Holistika next door where we got a free yoga class. My favourite part was the friendly cat Bonito, she was so lovely and I spent a lot of time patting her. Breakfast was nice with yogurt, granola and fruit, toast with coffee and juice, nice and healthy which vibes with the area of La Veleta, would defintely stay here again, the area was so calm and tranquil compared to downtown, very up and coming, a bit like Ubud in Bali. Great cocktails and bar area, with chill music and friendly staff, spent a lot of time on the lounge chairs near the pool. Absolute oasis

  Lovely stylish boutique hotel, quiet and safe location, bonus access to the amenities at much bigger Holistika Hotel including their pool, outdoor gallery, yoga classes, meditation sessions, pottery classes and vegan restaurant. Professional, friendly, caring and helpful staff.
