The Room Experience

My room had this wonderful open-air feeling with high ceilings and natural materials everywhere — lots of wood, stone, and these gorgeous textiles that actually looked handmade. The beds are seriously comfortable (I’m picky about this), and each space comes with its own private terrace where you can have your morning coffee while listening to the jungle wake up. What I really appreciated was how they managed to keep things minimal without making you feel like you’re roughing it — there’s AC when you need it, hot water that actually works, and WiFi that doesn’t make you want to throw your phone into the cenote.

Location and Getting Around

Being on Avenida Central means you’re walking distance to some of Tulum’s best beach clubs and restaurants, but far enough from the main drag that you’re not dealing with constant noise. The parking situation is actually great — they have free private spots on-site, which honestly saves you a headache since finding parking in Tulum can be… well, let’s just say it’s not always fun. You can easily bike to the ruins (about 10 minutes) or catch a colectivo to the beach, though most people end up renting bikes or scooters to get around properly.

Dining and Amenities

The on-site restaurant focuses on fresh, local ingredients — lots of seafood, tropical fruits, and those amazing Yucatecan flavors that make Mexican Caribbean cuisine so distinctive. Breakfast was particularly good, with options that go way beyond the typical continental spread. They also have this lovely pool area that’s perfect for afternoon lounging when the beach feels too intense, and the spa treatments incorporate traditional Mayan techniques that actually feel authentic rather than touristy. I mean, you’re in the birthplace of these wellness traditions, so why not experience them properly?

There’s something about Irie Tulum that just works for romantic getaways — maybe it’s the intimate scale (it’s not huge), or how the jungle setting creates this natural privacy.   Impressive apartment. Great size – we had lots of space. Very comfortable and well equipped for self-catering. Gym was particularly impressive with a great range of equipment. Quiet location situated between town and beach. You'll need a vehicle or bicycle to get around as the walk would take a while. Staff were really helpful with any and requests we had.

  My sister and I stayed at Irie Tulum in May 2024 and we loved stayed there. The location is developing rapidly with new building being built. It is located between the beachfront and downtown which gave us the opportunity to explore both sides of Tulum. The hotel is a small boutique hotel, very clean and the staff was absolutely so nice and helpful!
