The way they’ve managed to create this sense of luxury without feeling disconnected from the raw beauty of the Riviera Maya. There’s free parking right on-site, which — trust me — is a huge relief when you’re navigating Tulum with a rental car.

The location here is actually pretty perfect if you want to be close to both the beach zone and the town center. I mean, you’re literally in what locals consider the sweet spot — far enough from the main drag to feel secluded, but close enough that you can bike to cenotes or grab dinner at Hartwood without much hassle. The property earned an 8.9 location score, and after spending time here, I get why couples especially love it (they rated it 8.8 for romantic getaways). There’s something about being surrounded by that dense jungle canopy that makes everything feel more intimate.

My room was this beautiful blend of contemporary design and natural materials — think polished concrete, local woods, and these floor-to-ceiling windows that basically dissolve the boundary between inside and outside. The attention to detail is what you’d expect from a Small Luxury Hotels property, but it doesn’t feel stuffy or overly formal. Actually, I loved how they incorporated traditional Mayan elements without making it feel like a theme park. The beds are incredibly comfortable, and the bathrooms feature these gorgeous stone fixtures that somehow manage to feel both rustic and refined.

Breakfast here is honestly one of the highlights — they offer everything from continental options to vegan and gluten-free choices, plus they’ll pack it to go if you’re heading out early for a cenote adventure. The on-site restaurant focuses on locally-sourced ingredients, and I was impressed by how they’ve interpreted traditional Yucatecan flavors with a more contemporary approach. The setting is gorgeous too, with tables scattered throughout the property’s lush gardens where you can actually hear howler monkeys in the distance while you eat.

  Our stay at La Valise was beyond phenomenal. We went for my wife’s birthday weekend to celebrate and the staff went above and beyond to help celebrate. They kept surprising her with small gestures from a birthday dessert to something grand as decorating the bed for the birthday. From the moment we arrived the concierge was very gracious and during our stay the staff was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to help us enjoy our time in Tulum and they made her day a very special and memorable time.

  La Valise is an absolutely unique and special place. Team is professional and hits the perfect balance of being helpful and caring without being overwhelming. Exterior and interior designs are a masterpiece with a lot of tiny little details that you want to keep looking at and enjoy. Toiliteries are great and rooms have a very pleasant scent. Beach is clean, with comfortable beds. Overall stay at La Valise is relax and recharge for body and soul.

  As part of our honeymoon, we enjoyed 11 days at La Valise and it was truly an amazing time. The place is a beautiful and peaceful little pearl in the jungle close to restaurants and Tulum life, the view over the Caribbean Sea is stunning, the food is always delicious and the place and furnishing are giving a perfect Caribbean vibe. Huge thanks to Oscar, Eddie, Agustin, Anna and the whole team, you made the experience wonderful – we couldn’t ask for more. The greatest recommendation from Denmark.

  The hotel was amazing. Set between the jungle and the beach it has plenty of space for guests to relax, eat and drink and always felt calm and exclusive.
  From start to finish the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.

  Beautiful, swimmable, relaxing, fine white-sand beaches. Large swimming pool. Breeze thru beach-side bar very pleasant, especially when hot outside. Staff friendly, helpful. Rooms spacious, easily accessed near food service, pool, and beach. Excellent, walkable nearby restaurants.

  Hands down the best hotel I’ve ever been to. From arrival till departure, the staff were welcoming and super helpful. The jungle side accommodation is brand new and definitely the best from a pool perspective. Stunning views from the room and delicious cocktails – what more can you ask for?! Will return asap.
