Lumina at LOSANTOS Tulum Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Lumina at LOSANTOS Tulum, you immediately sense this isn’t your typical beachside hotel. The design feels intentionally understated — think clean lines and natural materials that actually complement the jungle setting rather than fighting against it. It’s positioned in Aldea Zama, which honestly is one of the better spots to stay if you want that balance between being close to the action but not right in the middle of the tourist chaos. The four-star property has this relaxed sophistication that works really well for Tulum.

Location & Getting Around

Aldea Zama is sort of Tulum’s sweet spot — you’re about a 10-minute bike ride from the beach clubs and maybe 15 minutes to the ruins. What I really appreciated was the free parking on site, which is actually a big deal here since many places either don’t have it or charge extra. The location gets consistently high marks from guests, and I can see why. You’re close enough to everything but far enough away that you can actually sleep at night without hearing music from the beach clubs.

The Room Experience

The room design leans into that modern jungle aesthetic without going overboard. Large windows bring in plenty of natural light, and the bathrooms are genuinely well-designed — not just Instagram-pretty but actually functional. Air conditioning works well, which you’ll definitely need during the day. The beds are comfortable, and honestly, the whole space feels more spacious than you’d expect. Small touches like quality linens and thoughtful lighting make it feel more upscale than the price point might suggest.

Dining & Amenities

The on-site restaurant serves solid food — nothing groundbreaking, but fresh ingredients and decent execution. Breakfast is particularly good, with local fruits and well-made coffee that actually tastes like coffee. The pool area is where people tend to hang out during the day, and it’s designed well for both lounging and taking a proper swim. There’s also a small fitness area if you’re into that, though most people seem more interested in the bikes they provide for getting around town.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is how it manages to feel both polished and relaxed. Couples especially seem to love it here — the whole vibe is romantic without being overly precious about it. The staff knows the area well and can point you toward the better cenotes or recommend beach clubs that won’t completely drain your wallet. You know what really impressed me? The attention to details like water pressure, Wi-Fi that actually works, and housekeeping that doesn’t wake you up at 7 AM. It’s those practical things that make a stay memorable, and they seem to have figured that out.

Reviews of Lumina at LOSANTOS Tulum

  • Wojciech from Poland (9/10)

Modern, clean, spacious. Great place to stay with family and friends. Nice surrounding area and incredible pool. Super high standard. All that you need to spend good time! Well equipped kitchen too.

  • Jeanine from Norway (8/10)

The apartment was very spacious with everything you need. It was beautifully decorated with an eye for the details. We felt at home right away. The location is good in a quite place next to the jungle. We rented a scooter to have more flexibility. Would recommend!

  • Kirton from United States (8/10)

    It was beautiful, very calming

  • Beya from France (8/10)

The apartment was very nice, spacious and well equipped. The location was also great for us as we had a car to go around Tulum. It really felt like home away from home.

It was also great to have access to a gym and shared swimming pool is of a very nice size.

  • Brian from Germany (9/10)

The apartment itself was modern and very comfortable. All appliances seemed quite new and were in perfect working order. The apartment was also well appointed with kitchen utensils, dishes, glasses, etc. The big-screen TV is there for use in streaming using your own personal streaming account(s). There were no regular TV channels available in our apartment.
The jungle area leading to the swimming pool area and also the swimming pool area in general were very nice, clean and well-kept. Entrance to the apartment was via keycode provided to us 48 hours before check-in.

The location is on the edge of Tulum but on the "jungle" side. Aside from some minor construction noise, it is very quiet. We rented bicycles for trips to the beach and Tulum restaurants. I would probably rent a car next time.
Since this is an apartment and not a hotel, any requests or issues are reported to an on-line "concierge" team whose actual physical location is not known. Contact is via text message/WhatsApp or the Booking.com messenger, for example. Responses to our requests were quite prompt, e.g. for a clogged toilet, learning the location of the garbage containers, etc.

The electricity went out one day for about 2-3 hours. The entire complex was affected. Normally we may not have even noticed this, but since were were not feeling so well for a few days and were bound to the restroom, it was not so pleasant. This is not under the control of the apartment owners, however, so no minus points here. I have no idea how often this happens. In our 11 day stay, we only noticed it this one time.

In general, we were very satisfied and can recommend this property.

The appartment is exactly like in the pictures! The pool area is amazing! You can walk for 5-10 minutes to go to a grocery store, little restaurants, pharmacy. The big grocery store (Chedraui) is 25 min walk or 4 minute cab ride for 200$ pesos. Yes taxis are a rip off in Tulum due to the Taxi syndicate. Beach is a 30 min walk or 5 minute car ride.
The AC’s were a big plus. Appartment has everything for you to cook if you need or want to! All in all, our stay was great! Spent most of our day in the pool!

We took a cab to go to the ADO bus station for 250$ Pesos on our departure. 10 minute ride.

  • Nicole from Austria (9/10)

It was noisy during the day, but that was no problem for us.

  • Claudia from United States (9/10)

Property was stunning. Everything you need is there. Swimming pool is so beautiful and the water was amazing.
