Majaro Hotel Tulum Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Majaro Hotel Tulum, you immediately get that boutique vibe that makes this four-star property feel more intimate than some of the bigger resorts down the coast. The lobby has this clean, modern aesthetic with touches of local wood and stone — honestly, it strikes the perfect balance between contemporary comfort and that laid-back Tulum energy everyone comes here for. You can tell they’ve put thought into the design without going overboard with the whole “jungle chic” thing that some places around here push too hard.
Location & Getting Around
The hotel sits in La Veleta, which is actually one of the better neighborhoods if you want to experience Tulum beyond just the beach scene. You’re about a 10-minute bike ride from the main drag and maybe 15 minutes to the ruins — close enough to everything but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the constant buzz of scooters and tour groups. I mean, the fact that couples rate this place so highly tells you something about the peaceful atmosphere they’ve managed to create here. There’s free parking on site too, which is honestly a relief if you’re planning to rent a car and explore the cenotes.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was spacious and thoughtfully laid out — you know what I appreciated most? The air conditioning actually worked properly, which isn’t always a given in this part of Mexico. The bathroom was modern with good water pressure, and they’ve got these nice touches like locally-made toiletries and blackout curtains that actually block out the light. The beds are comfortable, and there’s enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped, which matters when you’re staying more than just a night or two.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast here is continental style, nothing fancy but definitely solid — fresh fruit, good coffee, and they’ll even pack you a breakfast to go if you’re heading out early for a cenote tour or to beat the crowds at the ruins. I actually used the grab-and-go option a couple times, and it’s perfect when you want to catch sunrise at the beach. They don’t have a full restaurant on site, but honestly, being in La Veleta means you’re walking distance to some really good local spots that aren’t tourist traps.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about Majaro Hotel Tulum is that it feels like a place locals might actually recommend to their friends visiting from out of town. It’s not trying to be the flashiest option in Tulum, but everything they do, they do well — and at a price point that won’t completely wreck your budget. The staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you have a good time, and there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that focuses on the basics done right rather than gimmicky amenities you’ll never use.
Early hotels booking in Tulum secures beachfront cabanas, jungle spas, and chef’s table taco tastings.

Taavi from Estonia (7/10)
The large living room with a stone floor was pleasantly warm, and the kitchen service area had underfloor heating. The bed was comfortable and large. The spacious balcony was enjoyable. Washing conditions were satisfactory, with hot water available quickly and abundantly; this was definitely a plus for the accommodation.
The beach is quite close to the accommodation, a few minutes by car and about fifteen minutes by bike.Kathryn from New Zealand (8/10)
Clean, comfortable, lovely staff. Easy location. Exceptional value for money.

The property is set to a high standard. Its amenities are great including the WiFi. The pool is relaxing and the beds are amazing. The rooms are equipped well with everything you need including robes. The staff are friendly and kind. The strawberry margaritas are absolutely amazing. Breakfast choices are good and presented very well but there is a downfall…
It is prepared and then microwaved when you want it. I had hotcakes which were a little dry.Lakshmi from United Kingdom (9/10)
The room was lovely and the small swimming pool in the room was very nice and deep, but also had a place to sit comfortably. The bed was large and really comfy
