Maya Tulum By G Hotels Overview

First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Maya Tulum By G Hotels, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — but the jungle setting immediately caught my attention. This four-star property sits right along the hotel zone, about seven kilometers from Tulum town, and you can actually feel how the dense vegetation creates this natural buffer from the outside world. The entrance has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, which I appreciated after seeing some of the more over-the-top places in the area.

Location & Getting Around

The location is honestly one of the best things about this place — couples seem to agree since they rate it 8.5 out of 10, and I can see why. You’re positioned perfectly between Tulum’s archaeological site and the beach clubs, so you’re not stuck in one spot. The hotel provides free private parking, which is actually a bigger deal than you might think since many places along this strip charge for it or don’t have secure spots. I found it easy to hop in the car and explore different cenotes or drive into town for dinner without worrying about where to leave the vehicle.

The Room Experience

My room had this modern Mexican aesthetic that felt authentic without being kitschy — you know what I mean, no sombreros hanging on the walls. The space was well-designed with natural materials and plenty of light, plus the air conditioning actually worked well, which isn’t always a given in jungle settings. What I really liked was how they managed to keep the tropical vibe while still feeling clean and contemporary. The bathroom was spacious, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than I expected for this type of eco-conscious property.

Dining & Daily Rhythms

Breakfast here is American-style, which might sound boring but it’s actually refreshing when you want something familiar before heading out to explore. They do it well — fresh fruit, good coffee, and hearty options that’ll fuel you for a day of cenote hopping or beach lounging. The restaurant area has this open-air design that lets you eat surrounded by jungle sounds, and I found myself lingering over coffee longer than usual. The service moves at a relaxed pace, which fits the whole Tulum vibe perfectly.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets Maya Tulum apart is how it strikes this balance between being polished and maintaining that laid-back Tulum energy. You’re getting solid amenities and reliable service without the pretentiousness that can creep into some of the trendier spots. The fact that it’s in the best-rated area of Tulum’s hotel zone means you’re close to everything — beach clubs, restaurants, cenotes — but you still feel like you’re tucked away in your own little jungle retreat. It’s the kind of place where you can actually relax without constantly worrying about whether you’re missing out on something better down the road.

Tulum hotels connect nomads with coworking cabanas, lagoon paddle tours, and boutique galleries in Aldea Zama.

  • Marko from United Kingdom (9/10)

    Very cool place to stay

  • Mariana from Mexico (7/10)

Great location, staff and installation. Unfortunately sea weed smell very had and we couldn't enjoy the beach.

  • Nitesh from United Kingdom (8/10)

WOW! What a hotel and I was lucky enough to get a free upgrade! The room was STUNNING! The Hotel was stunning. Staff were friendly. Free deck chairs, hammocks, beach towels, mini swimming 'pool', private jacuzzi, free yoga and breathing classes in the day. Fast free wifi all throughout the property with VERY strong and stable connection.

(Neutral) I went in Aug/Sept – VERY LOW SEASON. Tulum was totally dead and quiet. If you want to be in the middle of it all then I would suggest coming in the peak period (of course it will be More expensive!) And maybe you would want to stay further south where are all the Fancy restaurants and clubs are. This hotel is in the VERY start of the Tulum Beach area and so is relatively isolated from the cool part of town – which is not a bad thing. I personally like to stay in the thick of it.

We had an amazing 3 nights, staying in a fabulous room on the beach with it's own mini pool. The room had an enormous window overlooking the beach, perfect for watching the sunrise! The hotel grounds were beautifully landscaped, with lots of areas to relax and enjoy a drink. The beach was incredible and there were plenty of areas to relax on the beds and enjoy shade when needed. The main pool was lovely for a dip and overlooking the beach. Our deal included breakfast which was delicious. We also enjoyed a lunch in the restaurant, on the beach. The evening options were limited, but it made us venture further. The hotel also offered activities such as yoga and Pilates, free to guests, which we enjoyed. A perfect start to our holiday in Yucatan!

We loved the fabulous location where you could step onto the beautiful beach. The pool and its view were excellent. The huts were very well designed with showers having a separate door and made of concrete and traditional Mayan roofs. The cleaners tirelessly cleaned up each day as tiny bits of hut’s roof fell down. There were lots of classes such as yoga and Pilates. The car park was well located and Coco on the front desk cleverly asked us to move our car as it was under a coconut tree. The coconuts were removed from the tree that day.
