The couples I chatted with at breakfast seemed to love having this as their base for exploring — easy access to cenotes, ruins, and those Instagram-worthy beach spots without being right in the thick of tourist central.

The Room Experience

My room had this perfect balance of comfort and local character. The design leans into that modern Mexican aesthetic without feeling like a theme park version of it. Air conditioning worked great (crucial in this humidity), and the bed was actually comfortable — not always a given in boutique places that prioritize style over substance. The bathroom was spacious with good water pressure, and there were enough outlets for all your devices. You know what really stood out? The attention to lighting — they got the mix of natural and artificial light just right, so the space felt warm and inviting even during the afternoon heat.

The American breakfast setup works well here, though I was pleasantly surprised by how they incorporated some local touches. Fresh tropical fruits, decent coffee (important!), and they actually know how to make eggs properly. Service was friendly without being overly chatty — they seem to understand that some people need their coffee before conversation.   So happy to stay here. I’ve been overnighting along other Mayan Monkey hostels and till now this is my favorite. First, it was my mistake and I booked in wrong dates so I contacted the hostel staff and they solved that, also, they respected the price besides my booking was on weekend. The place is cool, bedroom, architecture, furnitures, the walls, the location, facilities, excellent, and the best the breakfast. I’ve been in several hostels around the world and by now Mayan Monkey breakfast is the best, including the options, taste and price. I wanna return to this place.

  The hostel is one of the most luxurious that I've stayed in. The facilities are great and the hostel is very clean. The hostel is also a bit further away from the Tulum centre which was great since this provides a calmer environment.
