Naala Tulum Overview
Honestly, Naala Tulum surprised me in the best way possible – and I mean that as someone who’s gotten pretty cynical about Tulum hotels lately. This 4-star boutique property sits right in that sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to the beach zone but far enough from the main Tulum-Boca Paila road to actually sleep at night (trust me on this one, the party noise can be brutal closer to the action).
What really got me was how they’ve managed to keep that authentic jungle vibe without making you feel like you’re roughing it. Each room has this gorgeous cenote-inspired design with polished concrete floors that stay cool even during those sweltering afternoon hours, and the beds – well, let’s just say I had zero trouble with the time change because I slept like a rock every single night. The staff here actually remembers your name after day one, which is refreshing since so many places in Tulum have gotten pretty impersonal. You know what I loved? They serve this incredible café de olla at the hotel restaurant that tastes exactly like what my friend’s abuela makes in Mérida – cinnamon, piloncillo, the works.
The location is honestly perfect if you’re planning to explore beyond just lounging on the beach (though the beach is spectacular, don’t get me wrong). You’re about a ten-minute bike ride from the Tulum ruins – they provide bikes, by the way – and maybe fifteen minutes to Gran Cenote if you want to do some snorkeling. Parking isn’t an issue if you’ve rented a car, which I’d definitely recommend for hitting up some of the more hidden cenotes inland. The property has this lovely spa area tucked into the jungle where you can actually hear howler monkeys in the early morning (they’re loud as hell, but it’s kind of magical). One tiny heads up though – if you’re staying during rainy season like I did, bring good bug spray because the mosquitoes can be pretty aggressive around sunset, especially near the outdoor seating areas. Also, the WiFi can be spotty in some rooms, but honestly, that might be a blessing in disguise depending on how disconnected you want to be. The whole place has this laid-back energy that just makes you want to slow down and actually enjoy your vacation instead of rushing around trying to hit every Instagram spot in town.

- Sam from New Zealand (9/10)- The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, the rooftop terrace and pool area were amazing, the staff were super helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Highly recommend! Great value for money.
- Lashonda from United States (9/10)- I loved that the hotel wasn’t to far from everything. You also get a lot for such a low price. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was friendly. I will be coming back. The only low was the food not enough variety and the quality of food was not amazing but it’s a lot of restaurants walking distance so try there. I give this hotel a 8/10.
- Tanisha from Australia (9/10)- Loved the vibe here! Staff were extremely welcoming and attentive which was so nice. The food was amazing on the roof by the pool was probably our favourite meal while in Tulúm. The rooms were comfortable.
- Bournand from France (7/10)- Clean and modern
- Santarella from Canada (9/10)- Great rooms and decorations. The front lobby felt like a jungle without mosquitos! The rooms were comfy and air conditioning was great. The area felt safe and dispute having lots of underground parking, I did not want to pay so left my car parked out front and it was safe. The pool at the rooftop was clean and pleasant, the breakfast was good, and overall the room was comfortable. The sheets did have a humid smell to them, probably due to the air conditioner being left off. Overall a great stay!
- Nicolas from France (7/10)- Nice rooms, nice pool area
- Rita from Australia (9/10)- Great location, nice furnishings, amazing pool area
- Sarah from Ireland (9/10)- The staff were really helpful and friendly. Location felt very safe and was quiet. The pool was nice. They have bikes for rent at a reasonable price.
