The Teodoro Overview
Honestly, The Teodoro caught me completely off guard during my stay in Buenos Aires last month. I mean, you walk into this 4-star place and there’s this gorgeous old elevator with brass fixtures that creaks just enough to remind you you’re in a building with serious character – turns out it’s from the 1920s and they’ve kept it original (which is pretty cool, though sometimes you’ll wait a bit if someone’s moving luggage).
The location is what really sold me though. You’re right on Avenida Corrientes, which honestly gets a bit noisy around 10 PM when the theater crowd starts spilling out, but that’s Buenos Aires for you – and you know what, I actually loved hearing the energy outside. Walk two blocks south and you hit the pedestrian street Lavalle, perfect for grabbing those late-night empanadas, and if you head east toward Plaza San Martín, it’s maybe a 15-minute stroll through some really beautiful neighborhoods. The staff mentioned that most guests don’t realize how close Galerías Pacífico is – literally a 5-minute walk if you cut through the side streets. Parking can be tricky since it’s street-only in this area, but there’s a garage about three blocks away on Suipacha that they’ll direct you to.
My room was on the sixth floor facing the courtyard (definitely request this if you’re a light sleeper), and it had this lovely morning light that made the hardwood floors look almost golden. The bathroom was recently renovated – you can tell because the tilework is pristine – though the water pressure takes about 30 seconds to really get going. What I really appreciated was the little details: they stock local Andes mints on the pillows, and there’s this tiny balcony where you can actually sit with your morning coffee and watch the city wake up. The hotel restaurant downstairs serves a solid breakfast spread, nothing fancy but really good medialunas and strong coffee, plus they’ll make you a proper cortado if you ask. I noticed they get pretty busy around 8:30 AM with business travelers, so if you want a quieter breakfast, go early or after 9:30. The whole place has this warm, lived-in feeling – like staying at a well-maintained family home rather than a corporate chain. Sure, the WiFi can be spotty on the upper floors during peak hours, and the AC units are a bit loud (typical for older Buenos Aires buildings), but honestly, those are minor things when you’re getting such authentic local atmosphere and genuinely helpful staff who clearly know the neighborhood inside and out.

Reviews of The Teodoro
- Elizabeth from United Kingdom (9/10)- The place is beautiful and the bed is super comfortable. If you’re staying for a while it’s the perfect little tranquil spot. Close to everything but far enough away to be quiet. Lots of options for food nearby.
- Hanneke from Indonesia (9/10)- Clean, location
- Joana from Portugal (8/10)- Appartment freshly renovated, well decorated and modern. It’s fully equipped for 2 person and it’s really close to the Ado station what we were looking for. Instructions for check in were very clear and we had no problem, and the communication with the host was always quickly answered. Of course we have to mention the beautiful terrace with a pool, good place to see the sunset.
- Sarah from New Zealand (5/10)- Aesthetic, location, cleanliness, remote comms and comfy bed.
