Una Vida Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Una Vida feels like discovering a secret that only the most discerning travelers know about. This five-star boutique property sits right on Avenida Tulum, which honestly puts you in the perfect sweet spot — you’re close enough to Tulum‘s buzzing restaurant scene and shops, but far enough from the chaos that you can actually relax. The design immediately caught my attention with its sophisticated blend of contemporary luxury and subtle Mayan influences, creating this serene atmosphere that feels both worldly and deeply rooted in the local culture.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what I love about this spot? You can walk to some of Tulum’s best cenotes and archaeological sites without dealing with the tourist bus crowds. The hotel’s position in the city center means you’re actually living like a local — there’s this great little market just two blocks away where vendors sell the most incredible fresh fruit, and the bike rental places nearby make it super easy to explore the coastal road. I mean, the beach is about a 10-minute bike ride, which gives you the flexibility to enjoy both jungle vibes and ocean time without being stuck in either location.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve experienced in Mexico’s Riviera Maya. Those beds they’re known for? Absolutely worth the hype — I’m talking about the kind of sleep where you wake up confused about what time zone you’re in. The space feels more like a luxury apartment than a typical hotel room, with this gorgeous private terrace that overlooks tropical gardens. The kitchenette was surprisingly well-equipped too, which came in handy when I wanted to prepare fresh fruit from the local market or store those amazing craft beers from the nearby brewery.

Amenities & Dining

The breakfast situation here is actually pretty special — they do this American-style spread, but with local touches that make it feel authentic rather than generic hotel food. The restaurant sources ingredients from regional suppliers, and you can taste the difference in everything from the coffee to the tropical fruit selections. What really impressed me was the spa area — it’s intimate and feels more like a private retreat than a commercial facility. Plus, the free parking is genuinely valuable here since finding a secure spot in central Tulum can be a real headache during peak season.

Why Guests Love It

There’s something about Una Vida that just works, especially for couples — and I can see why it gets such high ratings from romantic travelers. The staff genuinely seems to care about creating memorable experiences rather than just checking boxes, and the property maintains this perfect balance between luxury and laid-back Tulum energy. It’s the kind of place where you can spend a morning exploring ancient ruins, afternoon lounging by cenotes, and evening enjoying craft cocktails without feeling rushed or overwhelmed by tourist crowds. Honestly, it captures what Tulum is supposed to feel like before it became quite so discovered.

The concierge service in Tulum arranges private cenote ceremonies, chef-led taco tastings, and helicopter hops to Sian Ka’an reserves.

Everything was tranquil and beautiful. Great location and lovely staff. Especially Sam. There was even a sister property that you could go to and use the pool and facilities.

  • Erica from Italy (9/10)

Very beautiful place, the hotel is newly renovated, with parking options, a pool, a very good restaurant where we had both breakfast (included) and dinner as well as spa services among others. Menus are varied with many healthy options. Overall we found a very clean space with very comfortable rooms, minutes by car to the beach.
    Highly recommended

Sam and Niko omg they were the absolute best! They need a raise. The property was calm, spiritual. Everyone was so nice and helpful. They had cleaning service everyday. Asked if you needed anything. The food was great. I like that you could spend time at their sister villa;hotel bardo.

Near enough to the center of the city. Walkable distance but the heat was unbearable. They had a pool, a restaurant, and the rooms had AC. The rooms were large and they had kitchen appliances to cook and make your own food to save some money. Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly and gave us tips about places to go and how to get there. When there was a problem they fixed it right away.

  • Manuel from Germany (10/10)

Sadly, we only stayed for 2 night. If we had known better, we would have stayed at least 4. The Room with the private pool was very Beautiful.

I really had the best experience in my life regarding service staff.

You can choose from a few breakfast options a la carte.
