Zamas Hotel Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Zamas Hotel feels like discovering a well-kept secret along Tulum’s coastline. This four-star boutique property sits right on that stunning stretch where the jungle meets the Caribbean — you know, the kind of spot that makes you immediately understand why people fall in love with this part of Mexico. The whole place has this laid-back, bohemian vibe that’s become Tulum’s signature, but without feeling like they’re trying too hard to be trendy.
The Perfect Beachfront Spot
What really sets Zamas apart is its location along the Tulum-Boca Paila road — honestly, it’s about as close to perfect as you can get. You’re far enough from the main hotel zone to feel like you’ve escaped the crowds, but still just a quick bike ride to the ruins or downtown Tulum. The beach here is absolutely gorgeous, with that powdery white sand and impossibly blue water that looks almost fake in photos. I mean, couples consistently rate this location a 9.2 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why.
Comfortable Accommodations
The room situation here is really well thought out — these aren’t your typical hotel boxes. Each accommodation feels more like a private retreat, with rustic-chic décor that perfectly captures that Tulum aesthetic without sacrificing comfort. The beds are seriously comfortable (guests rave about getting amazing sleep here), and most rooms have either ocean or jungle views. What I particularly appreciated was how they’ve managed to blend modern amenities with that authentic Mexican beach house feel — you get the romance of staying in a palapa-style building but with reliable WiFi and good water pressure.
Dining and Daily Rhythms
The on-site restaurant serves up fresh, locally-inspired cuisine that changes with what’s available — think grilled fish caught that morning, tropical fruits you can’t pronounce, and cocktails made with regional spirits. Breakfast is served right on the beach, which honestly spoils you for eating indoors anywhere else. The whole pace here encourages you to slow down — there’s no rushing to claim beach chairs or fighting for dinner reservations. It’s the kind of place where you find yourself lingering over coffee way longer than usual, just watching the waves roll in.
Why Guests Love It
What really makes Zamas special is how it strikes that perfect balance between rustic charm and genuine comfort. You get the authentic Tulum experience — sleeping steps from the ocean, falling asleep to the sound of waves — but without roughing it. The fact that parking is included might seem like a small detail, but if you’re planning to explore the cenotes or other beaches along the coast, having a secure place for your rental car is actually pretty valuable. Plus, the staff genuinely seems to care about making sure you have a great stay, offering local tips and helping arrange activities without being pushy about it. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to extend your trip by a few days.

Reviews of Zamas Hotel
Kim from India (9/10)
Our "Jungle room" was superb – extremely large with a big outside area with seating and hammocks. Our family of 4 was very comfortable in the room. I also really appreciated the large water container provided – allowing us to refill water bottles rather than buying more. The restaurant is also located on a section of beach with one of the best views along this stretch. It is a great place to sit with a drink and enjoy the breeze and views.

Everyone at the hotel was so friendly, we loved Fernando and Daniel at the front desk and cute buddy the hotel dog. Fernando helped us get two bigger rooms as we are group travellers without extra charge. Also helped us get taxis and tried to get us the best price. We had a really lovely stay overall.

The location and service here was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again when in Tulum. I liked the on site restaurant, which gave us the option to go out for dinner/lunch or stay in. The daily happy hour at the hotel bar was nice.

The accomodation at Zamas was the favourite of our whole trip across Mexico. We stayed in the coconut grove and had a cabana with two bedrooms (one room had two doubles, the other two singles). Our bed was easily the biggest and comfiest of all we've stayed in – but what really makes the room special is the gorgeous Mexican styling. Colourful tiling, Mexican embroidered throws and cushions, thick walls, soaring ceilings, white adobe walls, built in shelving… It's all just gorgeous. There's a huge bathroom, good shower, plus a fridge. We also had an enormous terrace right on the sand, with hammocks and chairs and a view of the palm trees. It's a few steps to the gorgeous swimming pool on the other side of the road which we had to ourselves for the most part.
Room service is available via WhatsApp and the concierges Fernando and Daniel were an absolute delight. Super helpful with advice and ideas, and they can book taxis, recommend restaurants etc. We rented bikes from across the road on two days and cycled to Playa Maya, the most incredible beach. There's a good restaurant there called Pancho Villa which doesn't charge a fee and the food is really good. We also loved the restaurant Negro Huilacoxe in town.
If you're staying in Tulum, Zamas is perfect – not at all exclusive or glitzy but welcoming and authentic. We loved it. Thank you for making us so welcome.Luisa from United States (9/10)
