First Impressions

When I first pulled up to Zorba Tulum Beach Homes on Boca Paila Road, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect — the entrance is pretty understated compared to some of the flashier resorts nearby. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly the point. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Tulum’s hotel zone, and once you step inside, you realize they’ve nailed that laid-back beach house vibe that everyone comes to Tulum looking for. The whole place feels more like staying at a friend’s incredibly cool beach house than a traditional hotel.

Location & Getting Around

I mean, the location really is something special here — they’re not kidding about that 8.8 location score. You’re literally nine kilometers down Boca Paila Road, which puts you in the sweet spot where you can walk to some amazing cenotes and beach clubs, but you’re far enough from the main drag to actually hear the waves at night. The free private parking on site was clutch for us since we rented a car to explore the ruins and cenotes. Couples definitely have the right idea choosing this place — it’s got that romantic, secluded feel without being completely isolated.

The Beach House Experience

Each room here is actually set up more like a private villa, which I wasn’t expecting from the photos online. Our space had this open-air design that made you feel connected to the jungle and ocean sounds 24/7. The whole setup encourages you to slow down — there’s a game room where we ended up playing ping-pong way too late into the evening, and they can arrange fishing trips if you’re into that sort of thing. Actually, the staff seemed genuinely excited to help plan activities rather than just going through the motions.

Food & Dining

Breakfast was honestly one of the highlights of our stay. They’ve got this whole spread that covers vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and classic American options — which sounds like they’re trying to please everyone, but somehow it all works really well together. I’m talking fresh tropical fruits, perfectly ripe avocados (this is Mexico, after all), and they make a mean coffee that actually tastes like it was grown nearby. The restaurant area overlooks the beach, so you’re basically eating breakfast with your toes in the sand.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Tulum can feel pretty overwhelming with all the Instagram-famous spots and crowded beach clubs, but Zorba manages to capture what people actually want from a Tulum experience. It’s that perfect balance of being comfortable and well-appointed without feeling stuffy or overly polished. The fact that couples keep coming back and rating it so highly tells you something — this place gets romance right without trying too hard. You’ll leave feeling like you actually experienced the real Tulum, not just the version that exists for social media.
