Casa de Piedra Tulum Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Casa de Piedra Tulum, you immediately understand why this four-star boutique hotel has such a devoted following. The name literally means “house of stone,” and honestly, it’s not just marketing — the property actually incorporates beautiful stonework that feels authentically connected to the Mayan heritage of the region. Located right in Tulum City Centre on Avenida La Selva, you’re perfectly positioned between the ancient ruins and those famous beach clubs everyone talks about. The hotel’s distinctive architectural style sets it apart from typical resort properties in the area.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what makes the location exceptional — you’re close enough to everything that matters, but far enough from the main tourist chaos to actually get some sleep. The hotel sits at the corner of Avenida La Selva and Kohunlich, which means you can walk to local cenotes, grab authentic tacos from street vendors, and still reach the beach zone in about 10 minutes by bike or car. Plus, there’s free private parking on site, which is honestly a huge relief if you’re planning to rent a car and explore the Riviera Maya properly. The central location provides easy access to both natural attractions and local dining options.
The Accommodations
Each room here feels more like staying in a carefully curated retreat than a typical hotel. The stone elements continue inside, but they’ve balanced it perfectly with modern amenities and comfortable furnishings. You know what really impressed me? The attention to natural light and airflow — they’ve designed these spaces to work with Tulum’s tropical climate rather than fighting against it. The bathrooms are particularly well done, with rainfall showers that actually have decent water pressure. Guests consistently praise the thoughtful design and comfort of the accommodations.
Dining & Social Spaces
The on-site restaurant focuses on fresh, local ingredients, and I mean actually local — not the “local-inspired” stuff you sometimes get at resort hotels. They serve both Mexican classics and international dishes, but honestly, you’ll want to venture out and explore Tulum’s incredible food scene too. The common areas are designed for relaxation, with plenty of spots to read, plan your next cenote adventure, or just decompress after a day of exploring ancient ruins under the Yucatan sun. The dining experience reflects the property’s commitment to authentic regional cuisine.
Why Guests Love It
Recent guests consistently rate the location highly — and couples especially seem to appreciate the romantic, intimate atmosphere the property creates. With an 8.7 overall rating, it’s clear that Casa de Piedra strikes that sweet spot between authentic Mexican character and modern comfort. You’re getting genuine Tulum vibes without sacrificing the amenities that make a vacation actually relaxing. The staff genuinely knows the area and can point you toward hidden cenotes, the best times to visit the ruins, and which beach clubs are worth the hype versus which ones you can skip. This combination of local expertise and hospitality makes it a standout choice for discerning travelers.

Reviews of Casa de Piedra Tulum
Montell's from United Kingdom (9/10)
Over 2 weeks I stayed in the split level apartment and then a studio. The split level apartment was open, spacious and had all of the facilities you would need. The studio was smaller but still very spacious. Either accommodation types for a solo or couple would be suitable. The hammock in the split level apartment is a fun and unique feature.
The Wifi was strong, the smart TV was convenient, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you’d need. The apartment was clean and the shower was great. I loved going up to the roof in the mornings too.
Casa De Pierda in a great location for Tulum, not too central but certainly not far away. Lots of great places to eat within walking distance. Some type transport would be suggested (a scooter is best) but you could get by without. Everything you would need is within walking distance. The ADO coach terminal from the airport transfer is 15-20 minute walk away.
The host was friendly, helpful and communication was clear. There was always someone available if I needed them and the hosts would always respond quickly over message. The staff at the apartments were always friendly, patient and helpful.
I would highly recommend Casa De Pierda. It had a feeling of quality, comfort and luxury yet still had a Tulum/Jungle essence to the space. It also felt homely and I definitely felt safe during my stay there too. Excellent value for money, worth every penny.Franci from Slovenia (9/10)
